Abstract
"To
achieve an effect by
grouping shapes and
colours in satisfying
patterns rather than by
the recognizable
representation of
physical reality. The
abstract allows the
beholder to see the
purity of forms and
colours without the
distraction of a specific
identity. The inability
to enjoy the abstract is
perhaps an indictation of
too much of a dependency
upon the familiar... The
challenge to seek out and
discover new dimensions
and channels of
communication is ever
present in abstract art.
Knowing that photography
has the disadvantage of
being firmly grounded in
reality, I have, in the
images before you,
attempted to escape that
reality for a while yet
somehow still depicting
it..."
